HBO Max x GKIDS Deal to Bring Major Anime Movies to Streaming

HBO Max is making a major appeal to anime fans with a slew of acquisitions that include some of the greatest anime films ever made.

As reported on by Variety, HBO Max is partnering with acclaimed anime distributor G Kids to bring 20 titles to the streaming giant. The titles include all of the works by Makoto Shinkai such as Your Name and Suzume in addition to classics like Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue. Live-action offerings such as Shin Godzilla will also be included.

These anime are expected to come to the service on September 1st, with a trickle of other films distributed by G Kids coming throughout late 2025 and 2026.
