Google\u2019s AI Overviews are running into an interesting problem right now. Earlier on Friday, if you searched for the term \u201cdisregard,\u201d the AI Overview section would include a response like what you\u2019d see from a more traditional AI chatbot instead of the typical AI summary, as spotted on X<\/a>. As you can see in the image at the top of this story, I got an AI Overview response that said, \u201cGot it. If you need anything else or have a new question later, just let me know!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n As of Friday afternoon, however, Google isn\u2019t showing an AI Overview for the term \u201cdisregard\u201d at all \u2014 instead, it shows a list of news stories about the issue first. Google hasn\u2019t replied to our requests for comment. In a statement to Android Authority<\/em><\/a>, a spokesperson said that \u201cWe\u2019re aware that AI Overviews are misinterpreting some action-related queries, and we\u2019re working on a fix, which will roll out soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n AI Overviews haven\u2019t just been tripping up over the word \u201cdisregard.\u201d When searching for \u201cignore,\u201d Google\u2019s AI Overview section showed the following message to a Verge<\/em> colleague:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Message received! I\u2019m here and ready to help. What would you like to focus on today? Just let me know if there\u2019s a specific topic, task, or question you\u2019d like to explore.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n When they searched \u201cskip,\u201d the AI Overview section said:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It looks like your message was just a test or a typo! Feel free to ask a question, share a prompt, or let me know how I can help you with your tasks today. I\u2019m ready whenever you are!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n As of Friday afternoon, Google is still showing me AI Overviews with broken responses when I search for \u201cignore\u201d and \u201cskip.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n As funny as this all is, it\u2019s almost certainly just some kind of bug \u2014 I expect Google will fix it soon enough. Maybe Google Search itself is tired after everything that happened at Google I\/O<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
