Adriana Trigiani has been authorised by Mario Puzo\u2019s estate to pen the new official Godfather novel titled Connie. Set for release in Autumn 2027, the new story is from the perspective of Don Corleone<\/a>\u2019s only daughter Connie, who was played in an Oscar-nominated role across the film trilogy by Talia Shire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to AP<\/a>, Trigiani teased: \u201cConnie is a novel about how a woman works to forge her own way in a world that\u2019s already decided who she is, what she\u2019s about, and how she should be treated. People underestimated Don Vito Corleone and Michael Corleone at their peril. The same will be true for Connie Corleone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But will Coppola return to direct his fourth Godfather picture? Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, a rep for the Oscar-winning director said it was \u201cunlikely\u201d the 89-year-old would helm the female-centric Godfather part IV.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Random House, the Puzo estate contacted Trigiani \u201cafter she published a Substack essay lamenting how little was known about the Corleone women.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Anthony Puzo, the author\u2019s son and executor, said: \u201cWe had been looking for someone to retell the story from a new perspective. Adriana was knocked out when I told her that the character of Vito Corleone (played in the films by Brando and De Niro) was actually based on my grandmother. We talked about how the women ran both of our families, but behind the scenes. Adriana\u2019s vision for Connie\u2019s life blew us all away. I\u2019m very pleased and excited to have her on board.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
