It\u2019s been 14 years since George RR Martin<\/a> last published a novel in his A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series.<\/p>\n The Game of Thrones TV show has been and gone since then, and he still has The Winds of Winter<\/a> and A Dream of Spring to go.<\/p>\n The author, who turns 77 this month, has shared in his latest blog post<\/a> what he\u2019s been doing this August instead of working on the long-overdue novel.<\/p>\n He writes: \u201cAugust was a busy month for me and mine, with two conventions on the schedule, a road trip in between, and a couple of guests afterward.\u201d<\/p>\n Among the details, Martin mentioned taking part in Worldcon, in Seattle this year, saying: \u201cI did two panels, both of them enjoyable.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Although Martin fails to mention walking out of one of the panels after an angry fan confronted him about the delay to Winds of Winter. During the Q&A, they asked if Brandon Sanderson (also on the panel) could finish the series since he\u2019s \u201cnot going to be around for much longer\u201d, given his age.<\/a><\/p>\n Clearly not in a rush to get home to New Mexico and work on the novel, the author continued on his blog: \u201cDrove home after the con, through Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico, before returning to the Land of Enchantment just in time for Bubonicon, which was its usual friendly local convention.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Martin does perhaps hint at working on Winds though with \u201cI\u2019m home now, though, and back at it\u201d. However, it doesn\u2019t seem like it will be for long give nhe\u2019s got New York City Comic Con in a month\u2019s time. Despairing fans wrote on the ASOIAF Reddit<\/a>: \u201cAnother cold day, and the winds just blow by\u201d, \u201cNothing ASOIAF related sigh\u201d and \u201cSo no writing, and also it took him 10 days to write a blog post.
