But how many five-star reads have you consumed this year?<\/p>\n<p>One woman, Jen, who posts on <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/tiktok\">TikTok<\/a> as @sillylittlebookss, shared that she\u2019d only given out the coveted five-star rating seven times this year.<\/p>\n<p>She said that she was trying to be a little more \u201c<a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/viral-news\">conservative<\/a>\u201d with how many books she rated five-stars because she\u2019s \u201cknown\u201d for giving them out freely, but these are her favourites of the year so far.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonham-Young<\/h3>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">She said that this five-star rating was \u201cabsolutely deserved,\u201d because the book is now one of her \u201cfavourite romance books of all time\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">Jen explained that it follows a boy and a girl who meet at a party, and their \u201cinitial click is that they both have a physical disability\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">In the plot, the pair have a one-night stand and the woman gets pregnant. The book follows their relationship and how they \u201covercome\u201d their struggles.<\/p>\n<p>She said it was the \u201cexact type of book\u201d that she needed at the time, saying it was the \u201csweetest and loveliest romance book\u201d that she\u2019s ever read.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>2. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah<\/h3>\n<p>Jen said that this was her first ever book by Kristin Hannah, saying that she \u201cdevoured it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The book follows Leni and her family. Her dad has just come back from the Vietnam War and he\u2019s \u201ca changed person&#8221;. Jen added: &#8220;He\u2019s super angry, and very impulsive, and quite dangerous to be around\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When he decides to up and move his family to Alaska, it\u2019s a big change for them, and there are so many things going on at the same time. Jen said that she\u2019d \u201crecommend this to everyone\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Play Along by Liz Tomforde<\/h3>\n<p>Jen referred to this book as \u201ceverything,\u201d saying that she\u2019d been waiting for it for so long \u201cand it did not disappoint\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that it follows Isaiah and Kennedy \u2013 who are caught in the difficult situation of forbidden love.<\/p>\n<p>Isaiah has \u201cbeen in love with Kennedy for years, but she is his team\u2019s physiotherapist\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Jen praised Tomforde\u2019s romance writing style, saying that she writes \u201ca level superior\u201d to other romance authors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>4. Sounds Like Love by Ashley Poston<\/h3>\n<p>Jen described this novel as \u201clike a Harry Styles fan fiction,\u201d saying it\u2019s \u201cso so good\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She gave a trigger warning for dementia in this book, saying she bawled her eyes out at it. Jen added: \u201cBe aware of that going into it\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Glow of the Everflame by Pen Cole\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>This is the \u201csecond book in the Kindred\u2019s Curse Saga&#8221; \u2013 and it made Jen fall in love with the series.<\/p>\n<p>She couldn\u2019t explain the plot because she\u2019s so far into the series now that she can\u2019t remember where she started.<\/p>\n<p>However, she gushed that the books are \u201cso good\u201d and make for a seriously \u201cunderrated series\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>6. And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman<\/h3>\n<p>Jen described this book as \u201csmall but very powerful,\u201d saying that it\u2019s about losing people to dementia.<\/p>\n<p>She said it\u2019s \u201ctold from the perspective of a man with dementia, his son and his grandson\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Jen explained that the book is just 74 pages, but she was \u201ccrying the entire time\u201d that she was reading it. It sounds like a great option for anyone who likes a tear-jerker!<\/p>\n<h3>7. The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis is a book I did not think I would love as much as I did. But I literally binge-read it in one day,\u201d Jen admitted.<\/p>\n<p>The plot follows a woman who is taking over the \u201cvery famous but very controversial Hotel Nantucket\u201d, which has been \u201cclosed for years\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a lot of \u201cscandals\u201d and \u201chistory\u201d about the hotel and \u201cpeople think it\u2019s haunted\u201d \u2013 so prepare for plenty of twist and turns!<\/p>\n<p>Jen loved that the ending was \u201csatisfying\u201d and described the novel as the \u201cperfect beach read\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/entertainment\/books\/2071093\/five-star-book-rating\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s the middle of the year, and many people will be well on their way to achieving their Goodreads reading goals for 2025.
